It is no secret that metro Milwaukee is the most hyper-segregated city in the nation. This tragic reality brings many challenges for the Black community, but especially for Black men. The good news is there are caring people willing to do something to improve the lives of others.
Minister Paul Gordon and Terence Ray became friends after sharing their life’s ups and downs with one another and identifying a serious need in the community to serve Black men who have a broad variety of challenges. The strong connection these gentlemen felt with one another solidified when they discovered their passions were mutual - that is, their fervor to mentor Black men and make Milwaukee better by establishing a responsible fatherhood movement locally.
As a result of their work, the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative started with Ray being one of the founders and the first Executive Director of the organization. Likewise, their work ignited the “fatherhood economy” allowing for many to make a career providing services to fathers.
Their work transformed into the formation of their business called RGM Global Community Consultants and includes an additional partner, Ms. Jene Morgan; hence, the acronym R.G.M.
RGM’s Three-Pronged Make-up:
Mentoring via Fatherhood – using emotional intelligence to help instill ethical & moral strength (acknowledging that “fatherhood” is the epitome of mentoring)
Legal Advocacy – to help provide a fresh start from entanglement within the criminal justice system
Entrepreneurship Training – to help see a brighter future
They have several goals in the works, including starting an institute, but their ultimate goal is to strengthen families.
